This article focuses on the Academy’s Boylesque 101 program, but it also includes bits from some other classes featured at the Academy. This is another piece that features a behind-the-scenes look at burlesque. I can be found in most of the photos in this article, rehearsing my James Bond fan dance.
In late 2015, Reagan Jackson, a Seattle writer and journalist, joined the Academy of Burlesque for its Fall session of Burlesque 101. She chronicled her experience, and published this article about the making of a burlesque dancer. Having gone through this transformational experience with Reagan (aka Cocoa LaSwish), this piece is very near and dear to my heart. It offers a rare glimpse into what it’s like behind the all the glitter.
